Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. We all have a tendency to fall into the trap of thinking our faith is a personal matter just between us and God, to which we want to say 'NO!'. Faith in Jesus is about being part of God's family. The Bible talks about us being like a body: when one part suffers, it affects the whole. Prayer is a way of focussing the love of God onto a particular need or issue and we encourage anyone to receive prayer during or after Sunday services and in home groups. The prayer ministry team are a few folk who are ready and delighted to pray with people on a one to one basis or in a group. This may involve resting a hand on the recipients head for a few minutes, praying for the need and listening to what the Holy Spirit may be saying about the situation. We believe in the use of what the Bible calls spiritual gifts (1Corinthians12:8-11, James5:14) which are given to the church to help us be more effective in our mission. We have Prayer Chains which are loosely linked to the Home Groups. Our Home Groups will prioritise prayer over a planned programme for the evening if someone has a particular need. Our men and women meet weekly for prayer breakfasts too. Quote from a member: "The verse above and the power of prayer are my strength and support during difficult times." Deb.
